CACTUS has some nice entries and may be able to give Wootton Bassett yet another two-year-old winner. This filly is engaged in the Phoenix Stakes and Moyglare Stud Stakes so has presumably shown a bit at home to justify the Group 1 entries. It could be a race dominated by newcomers. Joseph O'Brien saddles Eat Pray Run. This Blue Point filly is a half-sister to Listed winner Tardis. Ger Lyons' charge By The Lake is another to note on debut. The Starspangledbanner filly cost 80,000 euros as a yearling and is out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Jannah Rose. |
The standard is set by Fleur De Rose who looks the pick of the Donnacha O'Brien yard after a promising debut effort from the front finishing behind a rival who has followed up at Group level since. The race has thrown up other winners so she should go close if progressing. However she could be vulnerable to a talented newcomer and there are a few that fit the bill. Ger Lyons has a good record in this race so By The Lake is respected but it is CACTUS who appeals most. She has an attractive pedigree which suggests the sound surface will suit and her top stable gets plenty of first time out winners. |
