KNIGHTSWOOD has bounced back to form in 2025, having scored at Ripon on his penultimate start before finishing third in a valuable handicap here on Guineas weekend under a 5lb penalty. The six-year-old will find this a much simpler task and can strike off 2lb lower. Fouroneohfever produced his best effort for a while at Chester last Thursday and has to enter the reckoning, while Lavender Hill Mob appears best of the remainder. |
KNIGHTSWOOD holds the strongest claims and can land a sixth career win. Charlie Johnston's gelding scored off 82 in a class 2 handicap at Ripon on penultimate run over this trip and put up another fine effort when upped to 1m6f off 87 being beaten under two lengths. His last four wins have come at 1m4f and the drop back to it here is a positive. He can run off 85 today (due to go up 2lb again in future) and has won in small fields. He'll be tough to get the better of. Fouroneohfever is the biggest danger. He took a big step forward last time looking more like the force of last spring/summer when landing a hat-trick before a fine 4th of 19 in the King George V stakes at Royal Ascot. However, most of his best form has come at tight tracks (namely Chester and Wolverhampton) and this track might not play to his strengths. Even so George Boughey's gelding is entitled to go close. Speriamo needs to come on a fair bit for a modest pipe-opener two weeks ago but, now likely to strip fitter and with the slight ease back in grade a help, the mare is marginally preferred to Lavender Hill Mob, who had been highly tried in Listed and Group company on the Flat before trying his luck in a handicap again last time looking as if his current mark is a bit stiff |
