Trainer Stuart Williams has won three of the nine runnings of this contest, suggesting Nordic Games has been aimed at the race, and although last of nine at Kempton, connections try a first-time visor which makes him more interesting. Dashing Dick won this last season off 5lb lower and enters calculations, but this may go the way of June C&D winner ANOTHER ABBOT. Stepped up to 6f for the first time that day, he was value for more than the official length and a quarter margin, and an extra 5lb looks fair enough for his in-form yard. |
The key race here looks to be the one ANOTHER ABBOT won over CD in late June. He came away nicely to land that with Dashing Dick a length or so behind in third (4lb better off) with Spring Bloom a further couple of lengths further adrift (6lb better off). Given Dashing Dick won this last year (off 73) there's every chance he can bridge the gap but the winner that day showed improvement and can do so again to hold him off again. In fact the bigger threat from that race may come from Spring Bloom who was bumped from the gates and then used a bit too much early to get back in touch. He was a shorter price than the winner that day and Robert Eddery's charge can get a fair bit closer and lay down a determined challenge to the selection. Aberama Gold is a threat off just a 2lb rise but the one to give the selection most to do could be Imperial Guard who can be forgiven a lack-lustre effort in first time cheekpieces (discarded) having not got a clear run over an inadequate 5f last time. He was a fine third in a better class race last summer over CD and has every chance returned to this optimum trip |

Comfortably held in a novice over 5f at Catterick last time; in good form prior; off a short-break; poor second run after a wind op and lot to prove now but fair mark if proving well-being |

Yard has won 3 of last 9 runnings of race; far too keen latest upped to 6f; visor first time; best suited by 5f; headstrong and needs much more |
