Steel Drum ran a lot better than his odds of 100/1 suggested he might when finishing fourth at Windsor last month, shaping as if this step up in distance would be sure to suit. Mamba Rocket changed hands for 26,000 euros as a yearling and is respected on debut, but MAGNATURA gets the nod. Tom Ward's juvenile finished a head behind Galileo Island when fourth on his debut at Leicester and may improve past that rival to turn the tables. |
MAGNATURA sets the standard of those with experience and has a decent opportunity to gain top honours in a race lacking depth. Tom Ward's gelding should be able to build on a promising 4th of 11 on debut at Leicester on fast ground if handling the switch to Polytrack. Galileo Island was a head in front of the selection at Leicester, but that was his second run and while it should be relatively tight between the two again Marco Botti's colt had an experience edge then and will find it tougher to keep the selection at bay today. He's still the main danger ahead of Rajak and a couple of interesting newcomers, Maskatto and Enhancer. Andrew Balding's debutant, Maskatto, is feared most of the trio given the yard is firing at a rate of nearly 25% with their juveniles this term |
